labour in canterbury

Canterbury, England has been a safe Tory seat for decades, but in 2017 it flipped to Labour.

When the Financial Times asked me to illustrate their article about this, I chose to go Medieval. I referenced Canterbury Cathedral as a bastion of English tradition, telling the story of the political shift - from blue to red, which are also the two brightest colours of a medieval stained glass window.

"Has Labour found an elixir to win over Conservative England? Have the Tories become a party of the nostalgia, out of touch with working voters? And why was June 8 2017 the moment when, after years of apathy, young voters finally spoke up?"
